Una Mano knife by Zuria: olive handle and Una Mano system
This surprising knife is a more technical variant of the classic Corsica knife (shepherd's knife). Like his eldest, he has an ergonomic curved handle, inherited from the characteristic shape of the horn used by shepherds. This pure form is underlined and highlighted here by the quality and the depth of the guilloche of the spring.
The Corsica "Una mano" is mounted with a wide blade, thick, short, very reliable. It is made of stainless steel and does not fear rust. However, the user will take care to rinse with fresh water and to wipe the blade of his knife if it has been in contact with sea water.
What does the "una mano" precision mean for this Corsica?
Simply that this knife opens and closes with one hand!
Opening: take your knife in hand and apply a thumb pressure on the small crenellated lug that extends the blade. When the blade forms a right angle with the handle, replace the thumb by the index finger to straighten the blade until "click" corresponding to the emergence of a locking button on the handle.
Closure: The handle has a round button in relief that you need to press with your thumb to unlock the blade before tilting by pushing with the index on the back of it.
The handling of this knife is very safe because at no time the fingers of the user are on the path of the blade. Very flexible this knife can be handled by everyone without forcing. This innovative "one-handed" mechanism was developed by the Zuria brothers in Bonifacio who signed the blade of this new version. It is not apparent because it was slipped into the handle of the knife. For this it was necessary to hollow out platelets.
