Corsican shepherd's knife: Rough Buffalo horn handle, rough forge blade
"Forge blade" version: old technique that prevented rust from settling on the blade. The blade is burnt and then hammered and finally polished gradually to disengage the cutting wire from the latter.
Our Corsican cutlers have applied this "crude forge" treatment which gives a rustic look to the blade of this model from the collection of shepherd's knives. This version is also equipped with a Lock back security system and it has a miter.
Two dimensions are available:
- Model 18 cm open, 10.5 cm closed, blade 7.5 cm. 85 g
- Model 20 cm open, 11.5 cm closed, blade 8.5 cm. 109 g
This knife was created by a shepherd to work. It was used in hunting to skin game, because of its large blade pointing backwards. Its thick, short blade makes it an ideal tool for carving wood and cork. The curved handle of the Shepherd, directly inspired by the Horn of Aries offers an ideal grip and a great precision of the gesture.
Attention: The handles are made of natural wood or horn, each piece is unique and the pictures are non contractual.
